Work
Exchange Scheme in New Zealand
Work Exchange is an opportunity for a one year work
visa approved by Immigration New Zealand. This is
in addition to the working holiday visa and internship
visa.
Under this Work Exchange Scheme, you may be issued
a work visa to take part in a work exchange scheme
that has been pre-approved by Internship New Zealand.
Eligbility
You must be a resident of either USA, Germany or Singapore.
As well you must:
- be a full-time student at a tertiary institution
(college/university etc) who is required to undertake
a practical work experience as part of the course.
(NO AGE LIMIT) or be a graduate from a tertiary
institution that would benefit from a placement
in New Zealand to further your career;
- demonstrate you have a good command of written
and spoken English (IELTS 6 or equivalent);
- have no dependants; and
- show proof of funds that ensure you can survive
in New Zealand until you receive your first financial
re-imbursement from your employer.
Requirements
In addition to meeting Internship New Zealand requirements,
you must:
- have medical and dental insurance cover for the
length of the exchange; and
- have made travel arrangements to leave New Zealand
when you have finished the work exchange scheme.
Terms and conditions of the scheme
The conditions of your employment must comply with
the minimum terms and conditions under New Zealand
employment law, including:
- a written employment agreement that contains the
necessary statutory specified terms and conditions;
- meeting holiday, special leave requirements and
other minimum statutory criteria; and
- meeting occupational safety and health obligations.
